Opponent’s options: Row 2 plays (WEAVE, VALUE, W plays)
Candidate plays: VERMIN 2d, EM n5 (31), MU n2 (18), LOURING 3c (11), LOUNGIER 3c (12), MI/ME 2f (22), NU 3m (2)
Potential plays on next turn: Out plays
Subgoal: Draw an out play or high scoring play to outscore your opponent with a fortunate one-tile draw, solving by permutation.
Resolution: In Diagram 11, you are looking to draw an out in two to outscore your opponent’s play after drawing the blank or another tile. By playing VERMIN, you can win the game by drawing the blank as well as the L, both plays allowing you to go out on your next play.
However, you can do better by turning over tiles and drawing an out play. By playing LOURING, you can win by drawing the blank, L, or E, playing EME n5. However, LOUNGIER is even better, winning with ?AEW and tying with the L.
